The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Serbia, Nikola Selaković, visited the Serbian soldiers engaged in Lebanon within the UNIFIL peacekeeping mission today, and at the same time met with its head, Italian General Stefano del Col, as well as with the Commander of Sector East, which also includes Serbian soldiers, Spanish General Javier Mur Lalaguna.

Minister Selaković spent some time in conversation with our blue helmets and their commander, Lieutenant Colonel Hajrudin Šabotić, emphasizing that the people of Lebanon look with gratitude at the presence of Serbian peacekeepers in the south of that country.

Members of the Serbian Army engaged in Lebanon within the UN mission, as he said, greatly contribute to Serbia's international reputation, and are the pride of their country.

The Minister called on the Serbian soldiers to continue to represent their country in the best way, honorably performing their jobs. In a conversation with the highest ranked UNIFIL officers, Minister Selaković informed himself in detail about the security challenges in the south of Lebanon, and pointed out that Serbia is ready to help Lebanon face the current challenges, not only by engaging peacekeepers, but also by donating food, vaccines and giving advices for overcoming the difficult economic situation.

The head of Serbian diplomacy arrived on a two-day visit to Lebanon yesterday and handed over the first contingent of a total of 40,000 antiviral vaccines donated by Serbia, and announced imminent food aid for the most socially endangered Lebanese citizens.
